Useful Information

The weather in Ireland is unpredictable.  Remember to bring sweaters and suitable clothes to protect you from the rain (even in summer).

Cork is a safe city, but you must be careful with your money and belongings.  Do not walk home later at night on your own and do not carry large sums of money.

If you need to change money into Euro, there is a bank situated just outside the restricted area of Cork airport.

National bank holidays in Ireland:

March 18, April 22, May 6, June 3, August 5, October 28

EAQUALS

We have been an Accredited Member of EAQUALS since 2003. Inspections take place every three years and accredited membership is awarded after the school demonstrates that all requirements of the EAQUALS Charter are respected. We received the following comments after our most recent inspection:

“ACET was inspected by EAQUALS in January, 2016 and met the high standards required for EAQUALS accreditation. Our Management and Administration are excellent as the ACET ethos was apparent throughout the organisation and endorsed by all categories of staff. The academic administration is an area of excellence beyond EAQUALS standards based on our comprehensive and regularly monitored systems. The overall care for students and the advice and support available plus the very efficient homestay administration and selection of families are areas of excellence.”

The EAQUALS inspectors identified the following areas of excellence in the institution:

  • Management and Administration

Management and Administration meet the requirements of excellence as there is evidence of a strategic approach to management and an awareness of the economic environment, a clear evidence of leadership and sense of direction supported by an effective staffing structure and efficient administrative systems.

  • Course Design and Supporting Systems

The academic administration systems, their design and implementation including: class lists, attendance records, teacher’s records of work completed, and timetables is an area of excellence.

  • Academic Resources

Academic resources are excellent as the centre has a very wide collection of material for both staff and students to use and in-house material is being constantly monitored and added to.

  • Client Services

The overall care for students and the advice and support available plus the very efficient homestay administration and selection of families are areas of excellence.

  • Quality Assurance

This category represents a point of excellence there is an excellent set of procedures and systems to assure quality in every aspect from teaching to client support to health and safety on site.
