Green Standard Schools

We are proud & excited to announce that we have gained accreditation as a Green Standard Schools.

ACET is the first language school in Ireland to have environmental and sustainability policies recognised by this new scheme.

The aim of Green Standard Schools accreditation is to lessen the impact that language teaching has on the environment by developing a set of policies and practices that language teaching institutions and their stakeholders can adopt and adhere to.

As a socially responsible organisation we commit to the process of continual improvement and we fully support the effort of working towards a cleaner environment.

ACET Core values are:

  • To protect the environment in all our activities
  • To encourage student cooperation and understanding
  • To encourage personal and professional development
  • To maintain a policy of non-discrimination

Environmental Performance

Our objectives:

  • Reduce waste and the percentage of contract waste that is recycled
  • Achieve ongoing reductions in total waste produced
  • Reduce energy use in our school
  • Reduce the need for paper in the future, further reducing wastage.
  • More environmentally friendly lighting and automatic lighting.
  • Battery recycling offers a safe and environmentally responsible solution for end-of-life batteries. Certain types of batteries contain toxic heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, and mercury.

New procedures such as online bookings will continue to reduce the need for paper reducing wastage. A staff-led ‘green team’ looks at every area of our operation to help reduce energy use, waste and to promote environmentally friendly solutions. We have introduced a drink machine with recycled/recyclable cups, promotional materials minimising the use of paper and avoiding plastic and non-recyclable matter.
